Sanitation Manager

Scope
Reports to the Director of Quality. Works closely with Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Control Manager to identify, discuss, and solve issues related to cleaning and food safety. Collaborates with team members from other departments regularly and maintains a strong relationship with the leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage plant-wide sanitation procedures and programs, ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production in a food and dietary supplement environment.
- Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures.
- Develop operating policies and procedures as necessary.
- Oversee plant procedures related to approved cleaning chemicals and cleaning schedules.
- Perform gap assessment to capitalize on opportunities to improve.
- Oversee training of all employees for proper sanitation procedures, monitors employee GMP and HACCP programs to maintain company and FDA requirements.
- Establish key performance indicators for the company to ensure that cleaning and sanitation goals are met.
- Manage chemical usage and relationships with vendors.
- Conduct full sanitation audits relating to procedures, quality, safety and maintenance tasks for compliance.
- Maintain and write detailed SSOPs for all plant equipment.
- Improve routine sanitation to a heightened level with a goal of being audit-ready every day.
- Work with Sanitation Supervisors to delegate work and service time on a 24-hour basis.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
- Understands chemical specifications and their effectiveness/proper application for different processing equipment.
- Able to strategize and build programs to set the team up for success in the future.
- Able to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication.
- MS Office proficiency.
- Great verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Prior sanitation and chemical usage background.
- Sanitation concepts and techniques in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience with processes such as HACCP and good manufacturing practices.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety systems.
- 2-4 years of successful supervisory and sanitation experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- HACCP and PCQI certification preferred.
