About the role

To provide guidelines to the sanitation shift ensuring that daily plant clean-up and sanitation procedures are conducted in a thorough and timely manner so that quality standards are met, and daily plant start-up proceeds as scheduled. Location: Cape May, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Follow procedure to disassemble and clean food processing equipment and related areas on a daily basis
• Clean in place (CIP) of process piping using regulatory approved alkaline, chlorine, & acid & Quat based chemicals
• Knowledge of sanitation chemical concentration
• Proper handling and application of sanitation chemicals and tools
• Use of high pressure hot water for cleaning and rinse down
• Dispensing and transport of chemicals in 2½‑5 gallon containers
• Inspection of own area to ensure cleanliness
• Perform any cleaning duties in plant or office/restroom areas (floors‑strip & wax, custodial work, plant floors)
• Perform duties per Master Cleaning Schedule which are all plant areas not cleaned on a daily basis as assigned
• Forklift operator for unloading clams or any necessary materials delivery as needed
• Forklift operator for loading of trucks as needed
• Helping production, maintenance and other departments as directed
• Scrape/paint walls and equipment as directed
• Additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or lead
• Quality Assurance Responsibilities: comply with Plant Operating Procedures (GMP’s, Plant Rules & Regulations, OSHA Regulations)
• Food Defense Responsibilities: engage in “see something say something” program, ensure no chemicals/non‑food grade lubricants or physical contaminants in process areas, report infractions, ensure no personal belongings stored in process areas, report suspicious activities, ensure employees/visitors/contractors wear approved uniform and follow GMP, report unescorted visitors/contractors
• Training Requirements: General Safety, Forklift driving, GMPs, Sanitation SOP, Chemical Safety, Chemical application, SQF‑CCP, SDS, Food Defense, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure, Alchemy Training, Safety huddle talks

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Physical requirements: climbing (ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.), balancing (maintaining equilibrium on narrow/slippery surfaces), stooping (bending spine at waist), kneeling (bending legs at knees), crouching (bending body downward/forward), crawling (moving on hands/knees or hands/feet), reaching (extending hands/arms), standing (sustained periods), walking (long distances), pushing (using upper extremities to press), pulling (using upper extremities to draw/drag), lifting (raising objects, up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly), fingering (picking/pinching/typing), grasping (applying pressure with fingers/palm), feeling (perceiving size, shape, temperature, texture), talking (conveying detailed spoken instructions), hearing (understanding oral communication in noisy environment), vision (clear vision around moving equipment, discerning product codes), repetitive motions (substantial wrist/hand/finger movements), medium work exertion, environmental conditions (inside protected from weather but not temperature changes; outside no effective protection; extreme cold < 32 °F > 1 hr; extreme heat > 100 °F > 1 hr; hazards including moving mechanical parts, electrical current, scaffolding, high places, high heat, chemicals)
