The Sander/Blaster smooths surfaces of items, such as automobile or applicant components, prior to finishing operations. The incumbent will work 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Some overtime work may be required. Key Aspects of the Job Grind, sand, clean, or polish parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing.Mark defects for repair.Measure and mark equipment or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met.Verify the quality of finished workpieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machinery.Record product and processing data on specified forms.Load and adjust workpieces onto equipment or worktables and inspect the surface of the workpiece for defects.Polish ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface.Replace worn abrasive disks, wheels and belts as required. Here's What We're Looking For In Candidates High school diploma or GED or demonstrated competence.Able to read and understand English.Basic addition and subtraction.Read simple mechanical blueprints.Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods throughout the day.
