Sample Librarian
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sample Librarian supports laboratory operations by maintaining accurate, organized, and compliant inventories of samples throughout their lifecycle. This role is responsible for tracking sample movement, ensuring proper documentation, archiving materials, and supporting consistent workflow execution across processing labs. The Sample Librarian plays a key role in preserving data integrity and sample traceability while upholding established SOPs, quality standards, and operational timelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Create, allocate, and process sample order requests across all processing laboratories, ensuring timely and accurate movement of materials.
- Ensure customer samples and specimens are properly archived, labeled, and documented within the company’s database for complete traceability.
- Perform routine inventory checks for all orders under their control, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
- Verify and maintain accuracy during the transfer of sample inventories into permanent storage locations.
- Maintain plate inventories within processing labs, ensuring availability, organization, and proper tracking.
- Support laboratory upkeep by performing preventive maintenance tasks and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow established SOPs meticulously and support ISO-compliant procedures through accurate documentation and consistent workflow execution.
- Meet individual and department productivity, accuracy, and quality targets.
- Troubleshoot sample-related issues, database discrepancies, and workflow interruptions to maintain smooth operations.
- Manage assigned projects by performing relevant tasks, maintaining documentation, and communicating progress as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in a laboratory, sample management, or inventory-focused environment.
- Familiarity with sample tracking databases, LIMS, or basic inventory management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry, email, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to follow written procedures and maintain compliance with SOPs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional lab teams.
