Job Summary
Supports the day-to-day operations of the Sales Tax Department in providing sales tax and accounting functions. Prepares monthly sales tax returns, remits sales tax, resolves questions regarding sales tax and maintains customer sales tax exemption certificates.Responsibilities
- Prepares and reviews monthly sales tax returns and remits sales tax to the appropriate state Revenue Departments.
- Contacts state sales tax agencies and provides answers on sales tax policy questions posed by customers, corporate departments and branch employees.
- Adjusts sales tax on customer invoices once supporting documentation is received by adjustment methods and rebilling invoices and clearing these adjustments from customer accounts.
- Maintains customer sales tax exemption certificates.
- Works with manager or Team Lead to prepare information for sales tax audits.
- Sets up and assigns requests received in the Sales Tax Inbox.
- Reviews selected Sales Tax Returns on a monthly basis.
- Assists manager with requested monthly metrics reporting as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a four-year accounting, finance or business administration degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience.
- Prior knowledge of general accounting duties preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of PC Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), Internet, Email and SAP software.
