Sales Tax Accountant

Job Purpose

American Honda Finance is seeking a Sales Tax Accountant for their Corporate Tax division. This position ensures compliance with sales tax statutes by accurately assessing and remitting sales tax for leased vehicles owned by American Honda Finance Corp. and other entities.

Key Accountabilities

• Review sales tax reports for accuracy
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual sales and use tax returns for all required states including supporting schedules for audit trail purposes
• Create, maintain, and run Data Warehouse queries
• Gather and organize sales tax audit documentation, support supervisor in sales tax and bad debt refund audits
• Provide customer service support to service centers

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

• Minimum Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
• Three to five years’ experience in multi-state sales tax filing
• PC proficient in MS Office environment (Word, Access, and Excel)
• Applied knowledge of accounting principles and audit procedures
• Effective communication skills with all levels of associates and management

• History of timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks
• Knowledge and experience with CASS and AF preferred
• Ability to organize and manage multiple due dates
• Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and auditing procedures
