Sales Support Specialist
About the Role
Current is seeking a proactive, customer-focused Sales Support Professional to support agents, distributors, and National, Strategic, and Key Account customers. This remote role serves as a critical connection point among Sales, Supply Chain, Pricing, Brand Management, Finance, Customer Service, and external partners. The Sales Support Professional will manage open projects and customer commitments from pre-sale planning through post-sale resolution, helping deliver an exceptional customer experience.
This role will be located in Mayfield Heights, OH with a flexible schedule (4 days in office and 1 day remote). Remote candidates will be considered if committed to the East Coast time zone.
Responsibilities
- Build direct, trusted relationships with customers and serve as a primary point of contact for assigned National, Strategic, and Key Accounts.
- Partner with agents, distributors, contractors, architects, rebate providers, and internal teams to resolve customer needs quickly and professionally.
- Manage open projects and customer requests from quotation through shipment, invoicing, installation support, and post-sale resolution.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities among Sales, Supply Chain, Pricing, Brand Management, Finance, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders.
- Manage customer quotation requests, including product availability, pricing coordination, lead times, product alternatives, and required supporting information.
- Support specification and application reviews by helping customers and internal partners identify the best Current product solution for each opportunity.
- Use Salesforce and other business tools to maintain accurate project information, pipeline visibility, forecasts, and account activity.
- Drive accurate pre-sale forecasting and collaborate with Supply Chain and Materials teams to align inventory, capacity, and customer delivery requirements.
- Review open-order reports, clarify customer priorities, identify potential risks, and coordinate action plans that support on-time delivery commitments.
- Coordinate logistics activities with carriers, including delivery scheduling, shipment reassignment, tracking communication, shipping-instruction compliance, and freight claim support.
- Manage additional-material requests, change orders, returns, RMAs, warranty claims, and other customer issues through timely coordination and follow-through.
- Request, review, and approve contractor labor invoices in accordance with established program requirements and company policies.
- Support invoicing accuracy and work with Finance and Customer Service teams to resolve billing, credit, deduction, or payment-related issues.
- Establish, document, and improve support processes that strengthen efficiency, reduce handoffs, and increase customer satisfaction.
- Analyze account, order, forecast, shipment, and service data to identify trends, improve execution, and communicate actionable insights.
- Develop a strong understanding of Current’s product portfolio, applications, market strategy, and customer segments to provide knowledgeable, relevant support.
- Represent the customer’s needs internally while balancing business priorities, commercial requirements, and operational constraints.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Sales, Operations, Marketing, or a related field; substantial relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree.
- Two to five years of experience in customer support, sales operations, inside sales, account coordination, project management, order management, or a related customer-facing role.
- Demonstrated success building relationships and managing complex customer needs across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple open orders, projects, deadlines, and customer priorities simultaneously.
- Proven ability to identify problems, evaluate options, exercise sound judgment, and drive issues through resolution.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to support decision-making, forecasting, and process improvement.
- Excellent verbal, written, virtual, and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to learn, retain, and clearly communicate product features, applications, and solution recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting National Accounts, Strategic Accounts, Key Accounts, distributors, agents, contractors, or commercial customers.
- Experience in lighting, electrical products, building systems, construction, manufacturing, distribution, or another technical product environment.
- Familiarity with SAP, Salesforce, QuickBase, Power BI, CRM platforms, ERP systems, or order-management tools.
- Experience coordinating freight, logistics, order fulfillment, shipping claims, RMAs, warranty claims, or contractor-related activities.
- Familiarity with pricing processes, quoting, basic contractual terms and conditions, and invoice review.
- Experience working effectively on a remote or geographically distributed team.
