Sales Specialist

About the role

As a Senior Sales Associate, you play a key role in delivering exceptional experiences for pets and pet parents while supporting the success of the Pet Care Center.

Responsibilities

- Promote the health, safety, and proper care of all animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards. - Share accurate pet care, nutrition, and product knowledge to help customers make informed decisions. - Support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pets, pet parents, and partners. - Greet customers and deliver friendly, solution-focused service that builds trust and loyalty. - Lead by example by demonstrating strong selling behaviors and exceptional customer service. - Mentor and support new and junior associates, reinforcing best practices and store standards. - Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned. - Assist in merchandising and inventory activities, including restocking, recovery, and presentation. - Support store leadership with operational tasks and special projects. - Assist in resolving customer concerns and escalating issues appropriately when needed.

Requirements

Experience & Skills: - 1+ years of retail experience, preferably in a specialty retail environment. - Passion for animals and knowledge of pet care preferred. - Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. - Proven ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. - Strong problem-solving skills and professionalism in handling customer concerns. - Basic math skills and experience handling cash and transactions.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent. - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. - Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. - Flexibility to work in proximity to animals, including exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. - Ability to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. - Proficient in using point-of-sale systems and other retail software. - Knowledge of pet care and product knowledge. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws.

Schedule

This role is performed in a Pet Care Center retail environment and requires active engagement on the sales floor. Regular engagement with customers on the sales floor, including providing customer assistance and performing cashiering and point-of-sale transactions. Flexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
