Sales & Business Development

Build and maintain relationships with contractors, subcontractors, developers, municipalities, government agencies, and supply houses within the Boise market.

Possess the ability to prospect new business opportunities and expand market share in the local territory.

Make direct calls on customers and assist with service, pricing, order placement, and product recommendations.

Promote company products and services to increase sales and strengthen market presence.

Monitor local construction activity, market trends, and competitor landscape.

Estimating, Bidding & Project Management

Prepare accurate quotes, bids, and project estimates using company pricing tools and software.

Review project plans and specifications to determine scope and material requirements.

Coordinate with operations, dispatch, and quality control teams to select appropriate materials and mix designs.

Manage projects from bid award through completion, ensuring timelines, quality, and customer expectations are met.

Facilitate pre-construction, construction, and post-construction meetings as needed.

Customer Service & Relationship Management

Serve as a trusted advisor by recommending the best products and solutions for each project.

Maintain consistent communication to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Address customer concerns related to billing, delivery, credit, or product performance.

Absorb and resolve customer complaints efficiently.

Operations & Administrative Duties

Utilize CRM systems and sales tools to track customer activity, quotes, and reporting.

Learn and implement new software programs for quoting and reporting purposes.

Deliver material samples to customers or project stakeholders when required.

Maintain accurate documentation of bids, projects, and customer interactions.

Communicate effectively with internal teams including operations, dispatch, quality control, accounting and management.

Safety & Professional Development

Promote and uphold Knife River’s strong safety culture.

Identify and address unsafe behaviors or conditions.

Attend training sessions, trade shows, and seminars to build product knowledge.

Stay informed on construction industry developments in the local market.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office and sales/quoting tools)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
