Core Responsibilities
- Conduct a successful, aggressive solicitation process involving outside sales calls, inside appointments, telephone calls, individual letters, and direct mail.
- As a proactive sales manager, spend 80% of time in active sales solicitation.
- Aid in the preparation of the annual marketing plan, including action plans for assigned market segments.
- Send proposals on all leads that fit the property’s profile and actively follow through to convert proposals into definite status.
- Ensure timely sending of proposals and confirmations to clients upon securing space.
- Clearly outline client’s room block, suite, and meeting/banquet space requirements on booking sheets to facilitate accurate facility reservations.
- Collect, document, and route necessary information for definite groups, such as billing details, credit applications, rooming lists, and VIP arrangements.
- Document and pass along details on meeting arrangements, menus, and audio-visual setups to the catering manager for follow-up.
- Maintain a sales quota as assigned by the Director of Sales (DOS).
- Maintain total and complete sensitivity to customer satisfaction and guests’ needs.
- Prepare and provide weekly sales call reports and weekly itineraries of planned sales calls to the DOS.
- Work cooperatively and friendlily with fellow associates.
- Practice a culture of guest service in all interactions, promoting courtesy, goodwill, and a positive attitude.
- Perform any reasonable requests as assigned or directed by management.
Knowledge, Skills, And Competencies
- Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Talk and listen to clients, demonstrating excellent sales skills by knowing and selling the product professionally and courteously.
- Work in a high-demand, sometimes high-pressure environment with a high work ethic and self-initiative.
- Have strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
- Some travel is required.
- May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
- Maintain basic computational ability.
- Focus and maintain attention to multiple tasks, completing work assignments on time despite frequent interruptions.
- Maintain excellent relationships with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in, and at times lead, departmental and/or hotel team meetings.
