About the role
Sells hotel guestrooms, convention center, and banquet facilities through direct client contact to maximize total convention center and hotel room revenues and profits.
Responsibilities
- Establishes client base of organizations, associations, social groups, and corporate businesses through direct outside and inside sales, in order to secure business for the resort.
- Ensures that predetermined sales expectations are met or exceeded.
- Develops and maintains relationships with key clients in order to produce group and/or convention business.
- Negotiates guest room rates in conjunction with Assistant Director of Hospitality, meeting room rental, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines.
- Confirms agreements in writing and forwards document to client and affected hotel departments.
- Credits tours of the hotel, convention, and banquet facilities; entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures.
- Forecasts and accurately records all bookings and cancellations.
- Works with outside channels and agencies to promote convention services in extended markets.
- Attends and represents company at trade shows and city-wide conventions.
- Provides feedback and counseling to correct or improve performance; oversees and participates in staff evaluations and Personal Improvement Plans to ensure timely completion.
- Makes developments in job specifications and training manuals; Oversees training for respective areas.
- Provides leadership mentoring and team member development opportunities to managers and supervisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Two years of experience in conference or hotel sales required.
- Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance.
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and tasks at the once.
- Intermediate computer skills in MS Office and Outlook required.
- Food Handlers Certificate and OLCC License required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older with the ability to obtain and maintain a Class III Gaming License.
- Current and valid Oregon Driver’s License with the ability to qualify for the UIDC’s Drivers Program.
