Position Summary

Tom Wood is seeking a results-driven Sales Manager to lead and develop a high-performing sales team while delivering an exceptional customer experience. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on accountability, coaching, and driving both volume and profitability. The Sales Manager leads from the front—working the desk, supporting the team, and ensuring every customer interaction reflects Tom Wood values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and manage the sales team to maximize sales volume, profitability, and customer satisfaction
  • Actively desk deals, manage customer turnovers, and support sales consultants throughout the entire sales process
  • Partner with the General Manager and Finance team to achieve monthly and annual sales targets
  • Analyze and manage P&L performance to ensure strong store profitability
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Sales Consultants, F&I Managers, and future sales leaders
  • Maintain a visible, engaged presence on the showroom floor
  • Assist with new vehicle inventory management, pricing strategies, and merchandising
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer programs, dealership policies, and ethical sales practices

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in automotive sales
  • Proven track record of success in a high-volume dealership environment
  • Strong closing and CRM skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable
  • Financial and analytical aptitude, including discounts, commissions, interest, and profitability analysis
  • Excellent customer service history and commitment to ethical selling
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

  • High team engagement with reduced turnover

About the Role

This position is currently based at our Anderson, IN location. Tom Wood Honda is excited to be transitioning to a brand-new dealership facility in Whitestown, IN (near Zionsville, North Brownsburg, and West Carmel), which is expected to open early 2027. Team members hired now will have the opportunity to grow with us through this exciting transition.
