About the role
This position is responsible for overseeing the sales floor operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, adhering to company standards, and meeting financial targets.
Responsibilities
- Ensures store performance meets financial targets and key metrics based on annual and quarterly operating plans.
- Monitors and sets the pace of work, analyzing and acting on key metrics, observations, and information.
- Inspects sales floor for shop-ability and merchandising standards, ensuring a positive customer/donor experience.
- Dresses room and bathroom cleanliness.
- Generates new Goodwill Rewards Program.
- Prioritizes and directs team member activity.
- Schedules supervisors and team members for cash register, sales floor, to meet customer/donor demand.
- Assesses the sales floor and directs team member activity to ensure standards are met.
- Informs team members of operating plan targets and progress against targets.
- Makes sure sales, items sold, and operations labor hours are monitored regularly throughout each shift to ensure efficiency targets are met and staffing needs are adjusted accordingly.
- Identifies sub-standard departments &/or categories and takes action for resolution.
- Processes exchanges, special customer needs, and team member purchases as needed.
- Delivers a positive and unforgettable customer/donor experience by setting the example for, as well as training and coaching, customer service expectations.
- Engages actively with customers to seek first-hand feedback and improve the shopping and donor experience.
- Implements sales and marketing promotions & programs.
- Meets or exceeds sales goals consistently.
- Effectively and efficiently assists the Store Manager in managing the store budget, including payroll, achieving processing goals, generating revenue, and controlling expenses.
- Ensures proper cash management, including enforcement of cash register procedures and submission of required reports.
- Monitors and maintains a safe work environment through education, consistent follow up, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Manages cash and tender controls, performs morning accounting and banking procedures, and ensures all supervisors are trained to execute these procedures to standard.
- Proactively promotes loss prevention awareness by upholding procedures and ensuring policies are in place.
- Ensures store and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards, and that safety, health, and emergency procedures are understood and followed by all store employees.
- Keeps all aisles, corridors, and production areas free of clutter and unobstructed to provide clear paths in case of emergencies.
- Trains and coaches supervisors and team members, providing recognition and feedback, and identifies high potential team members for supervisory and management positions.
- Assists the Store Manager in interviewing, hiring, training, and directing the activities of store personnel to provide an efficient and effective workforce.
- Maintains positive morale of the work force.
- Performs other related duties as required or directed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, plus a minimum of one year related experience, in sales floor supervisor, cashier supervisor, customer service management, or retail management.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before individuals or groups.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, apply common sense understanding, and solve problems involving concrete variables.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, Microsoft Office, and the ability to recognize and learn the value of brand name apparel and other merchandise sold in the Goodwill store.
- A good working knowledge of brand name apparel and other merchandise sold in the Goodwill store.
- Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.

Schedule
Will typically be required to work regular weekend (i.e. Saturday, Sunday), evening and holiday hours customary to the retail trade.
