About the Role
To assist with the day-to-day store operation and sales performance to meet or exceed budget while in compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures. A Sales Floor Lead performs the duties of a supervisor when assigned by the Store Manager or Sales Floor Manager and may act in a supervisory capacity during scheduled work hours.
Responsibilities
- Use the cash register to process sales, accept payments, and authorize voids, returns, exchanges, and credits for merchandise.
- Ensure proper rotation of store merchandise and maintain adequate stock on the sales floor.
- Act as a positive role model for employees and trainees in all aspects of professional performance.
- Maintain a clean store environment, attractive displays, and presentable, personable personnel to create a positive public image.
- Keep the store clean and hazard-free by vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Observe personnel and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by Store Floor Associates.
- Perform the job duties of Sales Floor Associates as needed.
- Attend work on regularly scheduled shifts as assigned by the manager for the week.
- Complete the daily floor check and conduct monthly safety self-inspections.
- Ensure new hires are properly oriented within the first week of employment and document training.
- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the expense-to-revenue ratio monthly and annually.
- Train and mentor Sales Floor Associates and court-appointed community service workers as assigned.
- Assist in supervising, disciplining, and recommending discharge of sales associates to the Store Manager or Sales Floor Manager.
- Monitor and assist in receiving, pricing, and displaying store merchandise.
- Record and balance cash register receipts, make bank deposits, and record store transactions.
- Assist in preparing personnel and payroll records in a timely manner.
- Complete other paperwork required for day-to-day store operations accurately.
- Perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.
Skills and Abilities
- Assist the Store Manager or Production Manager in achieving or exceeding production goals monthly and annually, including implementing contingency plans if goals are not met.
- Interact professionally and productively with a diverse array of people.
- Market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with store and production personnel while motivating them to their best performance.
- Work a flexible schedule on short notice, including nights, weekends, and occasionally long hours.
- Use repetitive hand movements for tasks such as buttoning, sorting, hanging, and zipping garments.
- Engage in prolonged standing, walking, and frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
- Function in a fast-paced work environment with occasional periods of high volume.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 6 months of supervisory experience or a minimum of 90 days in the service industry.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Prior work experience in the service industry preferred.
- Must successfully complete Retail training.
Working Conditions
- Frequent physical exertion and movement in conditioned indoor temperatures with occasional exposure to outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
- Alternate work schedule may include working at an attended donation center with no prior notice.
