Sales Floor Dept Supervisor - Hardware-Tools
About the role
As a Sales Floor Department Supervisor at Lowe’s, you will deliver quality customer service while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked store. You will lead and enable a team of associates to provide the best possible customer experience, including coaching, training, delegating tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage.
Responsibilities
- Provide resources and tools to support associates in delivering the best customer service.
- Assist with down stocking, area recovery, and provide input into merchandising decisions.
- Monitor the use of store power equipment and coach employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques.
- Engage in customer-facing activities (e.g., greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, closing sales) and non-customer-facing activities (e.g., down stocking, inventory management, area recovery).
- Ensure store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and understanding safety and lifting directions.
- Work with leadership to identify and communicate best practices that inspire customer-focused behavior and goal attainment.
- Supervise associates in other departments as needed to meet store demands, requiring broad product knowledge and cross-departmental engagement.
- Communicate upward to management regarding concerns, issues, praises, and morale.
- Occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty (MOD).
Travel Requirements
This role does not require regular travel; however, occasional travel may be necessary for meetings, trainings, or to support neighboring stores/outlets.
What We're Looking For
- Hourly Full Time: Generally scheduled 39 to 40 hours; more hours may be required based on store needs.
- Availability required any day of the week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, sitting, and other job-related activities.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance; may lift over 25 pounds with or without assistance.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment.
- 1 year of experience in customer service.
- 1 year of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor).
- Experience providing direction or supervision to teams (with or without direct report responsibility).
- Experience supporting or participating in training, mentoring, and developing associates.
- Experience working cross-functionally.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of retail customer service experience.
- 3 years of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers (Pro Department Supervisor).
- Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility.
- Experience working in the home improvement retail sector.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
- Experience in a key-carrying role with manager-on-duty responsibilities.
- Experience using store computer systems (including but not limited to: Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.).
Pay
$28.80 - $29.95 per hour. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
