About the role

Develop Health is on a mission to use AI to radically accelerate access to life-saving medications. By automating complex, manual healthcare processes—like benefit verification and prior authorization— we've been growing rapidly and over the past couple of years have helped over 2.5 million patients! We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.

Responsibilities

  • Own speed and capacity: ensure calling tasks are worked while they still matter and callbacks are returned the same day; know how many calls the team can make, how many are needed, and when to hire.
  • Own the response rate on calls: track reach, response, and failure reasons (wrong number, voicemail, wrong desk); adjust scripts, timing, and process to improve those numbers.
  • Make the tooling better: work daily in the calling tool and turn observations into specific, prioritized asks for engineers.
  • Run the team: hire, train, coach, and schedule callers; set the daily cadence, listen to calls, and give feedback.
  • Make calls yourself, especially early on.
  • Decide when to add headcount or bring in outside help, backed by data.
  • Own the calling metrics: capacity vs. demand, time from task to first call, callback response time, reach rate, and response rate; report weekly and explain what moved.
  • Own call scripts and talking points for different office types; test changes.
  • Work with the growth marketing lead (who owns fax, email, and messaging) so phone and digital touches align on the same offices.
  • Collaborate with engineering on the calling tool: identify what slows callers down, what data is missing, and what to fix first.

Requirements

  • Managed an outbound calling team (SDR, inside sales, patient access, or similar) with phone as a main channel; hired and coached callers.
  • Run a team on metrics: activity, speed to lead, connect rate, conversion; able to walk through a metric you moved and how.
  • Effective on the phone: can get past a front desk politely and motivate a busy office to act.
  • Process‑building experience: fixed a queue, written a playbook, or set up a workflow in a CRM/dialer and provided useful feedback to the tool builders.
  • Quantitative fluency: able to break a funnel into its steps and pinpoint the broken one.
  • Fast and self‑directed: takes direction well and then runs with it.
  • Quickly learn the domain: prior authorization and medication access, what provider offices need to complete a request.
  • Understand how a provider office works: who answers the phone, who handles prior authorizations, and who to ask for.
  • Know the rules: what HIPAA permits on a call and with whom.
  • Bonus points: phone outreach in healthcare (specialty pharmacy, hub services, revenue cycle, or medical office); early hire at a high‑growth or early‑stage startup; experience with AI voice agents or modern dialer tooling.
  • Note: this role involves building processes and tools from scratch, making calls yourself (especially early), and focusing on the phone channel while digital channels are owned by the growth marketing lead.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus meaningful early‑stage equity
