Sales Associate Trainee - Texas First Rentals

About the Role

This role develops and grows sales with new and existing customers, participating in a variety of focused developmental activities, assignments, and rotations over 12-18 months. The position is available in both Rental and Supply tracks, each with specific responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Learn all aspects of Texas First Rentals sales methods and practices.
• Support and learn about branch operations.
• Accurately use systems for quotes, rental, sales, reservations, and territory management.
• Understand and implement quality improvement processes focusing on safety, financials, operations, and customer service.
• Build and maintain internal relationships with key support teams.
• Collect customer information and understand needs for future sales and marketing campaigns.
• Leverage Marketing & Sales tools to identify and sell to customers.
• Utilize CRM to uncover opportunities from dormant, inactive, and long-lost accounts.
• Coordinate with branch departments to ensure customer satisfaction and communicate field issues.
• Work with ISR's to provide solutions to customers, including equipment needs assessment, training, demonstrations, quotations, catalogs, and credit applications.
• Negotiate prices on equipment rentals and sales in accordance with pricing policies and procedures.
• Drive customer engagement to local events/promotions.
• Adhere to safety policies and comply with company policies, procedures, and standards.

Role-Specific Responsibilities

Rental:

• Learn all functions of an Outside Sales Representative through hands-on training, including joint sales calls, passing leads, and opening new accounts.

Supply:

• Learn all functions of a Supply Sales Representative through hands-on training, including joint sales calls, passing leads, and opening new accounts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Three to five years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.

Skills

• Knowledge of applicable accounting principles, budget preparation, and business acumen.
• Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales).
• Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long-term business relationships.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional organizational, self-management, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Proficient with MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret data.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Role-Specific Skills

Rental:

• Demonstrated knowledge of construction equipment and the rental industry.

Supply:

• Demonstrated knowledge of supply products and the construction industry.

Additional Information

• Supervisory Responsibilities: None
• Travel: Up to 5%
• Valid driver’s license required

Physical Requirements

• Extended periods in a stationary position.
• Occasional movement to access office machinery and file cabinets.
• Frequent communication with others.
• Routine use of standard office equipment.

Work Environment

• Retail, office, and construction environments.
• Exposure to computer screens, noise, dust, grease, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions.
