About the Role
The Sales and Service Associate performs a dual role in a branch, focusing on both sales and operational responsibilities. This position is responsible for selling bank products and services to meet the needs of existing and potential customers while delivering high-quality service in line with bank goals for growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The role also involves accurately processing customer transactions to ensure a best-in-class experience.
Responsibilities
Sales
- Work with the branch manager and supervisor to attain or exceed individual sales goals.
- Build trust-based relationships with clients by actively listening and uncovering their financial needs to provide tailored solutions.
- Conduct sales activities, including in-person or phone interviews with clients and prospective clients, community involvement, and other initiatives to drive business to the branch.
- Support marketing campaigns and product launches by adapting sales techniques and leveraging marketing tools and branch technology.
- Educate clients on self-service capabilities and encourage the use of digital banking options (e.g., smart ATMs, online and mobile banking, online transfers, People Pay, Mobile Cash, Bill Pay, Digital Wallets).
- Perform basic inquiries related to account openings to ensure customers understand account features.
- Stay informed about changes in the banking environment, competition, and customers' business needs.
Operations
- Ensure compliance with all bank policies and regulations to help the branch pass assessments and audits.
- Execute teller banking transactions accurately in accordance with Popular’s policies, procedures, and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Assist in processing night depository bags, currency, and ATM settlements as required.
Customer Experience
- Consistently deliver sales and service activities while adhering to Popular’s key values: professionalism, accountability, customer centricity, and security.
- Promote an environment of ongoing customer feedback and continuous improvement.
- Respond effectively to customers requesting account updates or closures, determine reasons for dissatisfaction, and offer alternatives while processing account maintenance in a compliant manner.
Risk Management
- Support compliance functions, including reconciliations, audits (internal/external), reporting, controls, records management, approvals, and opening/closing procedures, ensuring strict adherence to security protocols.
- Collect, analyze, and secure all necessary documentation for successful account openings; notify supervisors of any suspicious or questionable documents.
- Promote the branch’s active involvement in the community and report all Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) related activities to the appropriate unit.
- Proactively identify fraudulent or forged documentation/activity and report such incidents to supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to all bank policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of demonstrated successful sales experience and six months of cash handling experience (or equivalent related experience and training).
- NMLS registration; compliant with the Safe Act.
- Must provide evidence of academic preparation or courses related to the job posting, if necessary.
