Salary Production Plant Manager

About the role
Direct and manage plant operations for safety, environmental, production, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving. Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. Develop and control profits, plans, and budget. Implement cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries. Manage capital asset maintenance and lead continual process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
- Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or adjust when necessary.
- Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
- Lead continual process improvement and incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness.
- Provide direction, development, and leadership to production supervisors.
- Directly supervise 4 managers and oversee 19 salaried employees, including leadership, employee development, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning, and employee relations.
- Ensure alignment with company objectives; managers under this position handle hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Five years of plant/general management experience in a poultry slaughter plant manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
- Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures.
- Minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
- Computer knowledge.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
- Bilingual language skills a plus.
