About the role
The Plant Production Manager leads and manages plant production operations across multiple departments, focusing on production output, plant metrics, quality, safety, and materials utilization. This position works proactively with plant management and operations managers to ensure high plant performance, quality and timely delivery to Homebuilding operations, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage production and schedule requirements and output for multiple plant departments.
- Ensure consistent workflow through departments and alignment between night and day shifts.
- Partner with plant operations leadership (Materials, Scheduling, Logistics) to develop accurate projections and maintain a balanced schedule with consistent material flow.
- Adjust staffing, materials, and other resources to meet operational metrics and timely shipments.
- Lead quality initiatives and built-in quality checks to achieve plant and NVR Brand Promise goals.
- Recommend quality standards and processes; participate in Homebuilding audits and Customer Liaison programs.
- Ensure alignment, coordination, and cross-training between value streams.
- Collaborate with leadership in other functional areas to meet shared goals.
- Provide leadership, training, and auditing on safety best practices and working conditions.
- Identify and correct safety concerns, manage accident investigations, and ensure employee safety training.
- Monitor key metrics (e.g., plant efficiencies) and analyze data to evaluate performance and drive improvements.
- Align production equipment usage with Maintenance department and capital planning to minimize downtime.
- Manage spending in plant accounts and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Resolve escalated issues from Homebuilding, vendors, employees, and other NVR departments.
- Focus on employee engagement and retention initiatives.
- Develop positive working relationships and ensure hourly employees receive coaching, training, and reviews.
- Evaluate department staffing and training needs; recommend team staffing decisions.
- Identify and recommend improvements to production methods, equipment, procedures, quality standards, efficiencies, and safety.
- Lead or participate in plant and Manufacturing prototype and continuous improvement projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership and management experience (Manufacturing experience strongly preferred).
- Experience with Lean and continuous improvement preferred.
- Excellent problem-analysis, critical thinking, and strategic planning abilities.
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Outstanding collaboration and conflict management abilities.

Pay
$97,000 to $107,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility.
