About the role

The Washington State LGBTQ Commission is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team. This role involves supporting the Commission's mission to improve the lives of LGBTQ people in Washington state through advocacy, community work, and policy development.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of community engagement strategies
  • Assist in legislative and policy analysis related to LGBTQ issues
  • Help coordinate events, listening sessions, and workgroup activities
  • Contribute to research and data collection on LGBTQ topics including healthcare, youth development, aging, and rural communities
  • Support communications and outreach efforts including newsletter content and public records requests
  • Collaborate with commissioners, staff, and community partners

Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Washington State LGBTQ Commission
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in LGBTQ advocacy, policy, or community organizing
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Washington state government processes and legislative systems
  • Experience with community engagement and outreach
  • Familiarity with data research and analysis methods
  • Understanding of issues facing diverse LGBTQ communities including youth, aging populations, and rural residents
