Saint Therese of Corcoran- Memory Care Visitor Volunteer

Responsibilities

• Visit with residents, reminisce, and provide social interactions.
• Read to residents, write letters, and assist with other communication needs.
• Engage residents in other activities such as playing cards and going for walks.
• Provide consistent, supportive companionship to residents.

Requirements

• Interest in developing ongoing relationships with residents.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Able to use technology such as iPads to facilitate reminiscence through images, maps, music, etc.
• Self-directed and able to volunteer with minimal supervision.
• Able to push wheelchairs safely throughout the facility and property.
• Able to locate the resident’s name and room number to transport them back to their room.
• Have a good understanding of state laws protecting vulnerable adults and reporting mandates.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
• Able to follow infection prevention and control procedures to minimize risk of disease transmission and maintain health and safety of residents, staff and volunteers.
