Sailing Coach

Greens Farms Academy (GFA) empowers students to shape their own world and build their future. About the Role

Greens Farms Academy seeks an experienced and energetic Fall & Spring Sailing Coach to join its Athletics Department. This role involves partnering with the Director of Athletics & Physical Education and other coaches to uphold high standards in sailing and student conduct, foster skill development, and instill pride and joy in student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching at the high school or collegiate level, strong communication skills, and a commitment to aligning their work with GFA’s mission and core values. The coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics & Physical Education.

Responsibilities

• Develop and nurture a team culture that empowers student-athletes, promoting discipline, joy, and aspiration toward individual and team goals.
• Design and execute organized practices and skill-development sessions, educating students on advanced sailing strategies and techniques.
• Instruct student-athletes in executing competitive strategies during races and regattas.
• Promote sailors for local, state, and national recognition, as well as college recruitment opportunities.
• Engage in outreach to prospective students interested in sailing.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Physical Education.

Requirements

• Experience coaching sailing at the high school and/or collegiate level.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Commitment to aligning coaching philosophy with GFA’s mission and core values.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (4-year).

Greens Farms Academy is located in Westport, CT, a suburban setting close to major transportation hubs. The campus is a five-minute walk from the Greens Farms Metro-North train station and sits on the Long Island Sound, offering easy access to New Haven (30 minutes south) and New York City (one hour north by car or commuter train).
