SAH Endoscopy Technician

Responsibilities

• Assists physician with endoscopy procedure
• Cleaning of endoscopes: High level disinfection
• Performs disinfection and sterilization of instrumentation in the central service department
• Processes all instruments for the operating room according to manufacturer’s recommendations
• Updates and maintains IFU’s related to endoscopy/operating room equipment and instrumentation
• Performs specimen handling in the endoscopy suite
• Documents and logs related to sterilization including temperature and humidity logs, eye wash log, and instrument/equipment repair log
• Affords assistance with transporting and positioning of patients
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum Qualifications: CRCST preferred, BLS required
• 1 - 5 years preferred
• Ability to assist physician in all endoscopic procedures
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control principles, sterilization techniques, equipment and supply processing, and operation of steam sterilizers
• Knowledge of Spauling Classification
• Knowledge of Universal Protocol
• Knowledge of AORN Standards and Recommended Practices
• Knowledge of AAMI Guidelines
• Knowledge of ASGE Guidelines
• Ability to prioritize equipment needs of the operating room/endoscopy suite
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to exercise good judgement and is self-motivated
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
