Safety Technician II - RES
About the role
Under general supervision, inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
- Affords assistance in maintaining safety equipment supply and availability.
- Samples and analyzes for possible exposure to hazards such as chemicals, smoke, fumes, gases, vapors, noise and lighting.
- Affords assistance in applying safety policies and procedures and in employee safety training.
- Maintains assigned files and records including material safety data sheets and other paperwork ensuring compliance.
- Might afford assistance with hazardous material programs, assuring all hazardous materials are received, handled, shipped, stored, labeled and disposed of in accordance with company and government regulations.
- Might interface with regulatory agencies.
Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A two year degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Requires at least 2 years related experience.
- Requires developing understanding and ability to train others in company, state and federal safety policies and regulations.
- Able to train others in correct use of safety equipment.
- Must have practical knowledge of biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Must have developing skills in the operation of a variety of lab equipment, generators, pumps, gauges, and other common tools.
- Must have the ability to perform control calculations.
- Must be able to produce quality, accurate work.
- Must be able to detect and correct errors.
- Requires effective written and verbal communication.

Pay
Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $29.83 – $38.60/hour. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market, and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
