Responsibilities
- Execute the site safety program on an assigned project.
- Educate and train Austin project staff in safety requirements and best practices in incident prevention.
- Ensure compliance with company and customer safety policies.
- Assist in creating accurate safety reports and accident investigation documents.
- Assist in staff safety training and subcontractor development.
- Represent the company in a positive and professional manner with the customer and subcontractors.
- Create and facilitate safety trainings and orientations aligned with project specifics and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s current safety manual, policies and expectations.
- Spend majority of time in the field observing work, coaching, auditing, and engaging craft employee-owners.
- Help project supervision resolve safety problems and issues in the field.
- May fill in for site HSE manager during absences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Safety Technician with 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Current OSHA 30 card/certification.
- Pass medical and background check as a condition of employment.
- Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
Skills
- Ability to build working relationships with customer representatives, project staff, and subcontractor safety representatives.
- Ability to perform work while wearing required personal protective equipment (rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses).
- Full range of mobility in upper and lower body; ability to reach overhead, work in various positions (stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting); use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods.
Schedule
Full-time position working 40 hours per week. No per diem and no relocation assistance.
