Safety Technician

About the role

The Mundy Companies, a leader in industrial maintenance, services, and construction, is hiring for a long‑term Safety Technician position in the Victoria, Texas area. Successful candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as a Safety Technician in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. The Safety Technician oversees projects and maintenance, ensures compliance with standards, processes, communications, training, and systems, and must remain flexible as roles and responsibilities may change based on site needs.

Responsibilities

• Existence and awareness of a suitable and relevant health and safety policy
• A safe workplace without risk to health
• Safe plant and machinery, and safe movement, storage and use of articles and substances
• Adequate provision of first aid and welfare facilities and support
• Provision of suitable and current information and supervision concerning health and safety policies, procedures and practices
• Proper and timely assessment of risk to health and safety, and implementation of measures and arrangements identified as necessary from assessments
• Provision of emergency procedures, first‑aid facilities, safety signs, relevant protective clothing and equipment, and incident reporting to the relevant authorities
• Liaison as necessary with customer and relevant authorities, and assistance and cooperation concerning audits and remedial actions
• The workplace satisfies health, safety, and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, sanitary, washing, rest facilities and lunchroom facilities
• Prevention and precautions against, or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous materials, and danger from flammable, explosive, caustic, electrical, noise, radiation and manual handling risks
• Surveillance and reporting on health and safety practices and systems
• All Mundy incidents are reported immediately to the Mundy Site Manager
• All incident investigations are conducted to determine the “Root Cause” for all incidents involving Mundy personnel
• The development of corrective action plans/procedures to minimize the risk for repeat incidents
• Active participation in the Safety Awareness Program
• The Safety Awareness data is maintained in a database so that problem areas can be targeted
• Corrective actions are in place to address deficiencies reported through the Safety Awareness Program
• Daily safety audits are conducted on the site
• First Report of Injury forms are completed and forwarded to the company’s Workers Compensation Carrier within 24 hours
