Safety Technician
Service Wire Company, a premier supplier of industrial and utility wire and cable, is seeking a Safety Technician in Culloden, WV. This role offers the opportunity to join a growing team and support the site’s environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs.
About the Role
The Safety Technician supports EHS programs by conducting inspections, collecting samples, monitoring workplace conditions, and assisting with hazard mitigation strategies. This hands-on role ensures compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and other regulatory requirements. The position provides technical support to the Safety Specialist and serves as a link between floor operations and safety leadership.
Responsibilities
- Inspect work areas, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory standards
- Assist in identifying hazardous conditions and implementing practical solutions to reduce risk
- Collect samples and take measurements (air quality, noise levels, exposure monitoring, etc.) to detect and evaluate hazardous or toxic conditions
- Verify that required PPE meets established safety specifications and is being used properly
- Support incident investigations by gathering data, taking photos, conducting interviews, and preparing initial documentation
- Prepare and maintain accurate safety documents, logs, inspection records, and reports to support compliance and audits
- Assist with contractor safety, permit-to-work processes, and equipment safety verifications
- Support safety training by helping set up classes, distributing materials, and ensuring attendance records are completed
- Participate in safety audits, monthly safety inspections, and job hazard analyses
- Escalate safety risks to the Safety Specialist or EHS Manager promptly
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, logistics, or maintenance environment
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices
- Ability to use inspection tools, monitors, and PPE
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Effective communication skills and willingness to interact with employees on the floor
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in safety, industrial technology, environmental science, or related field
- Exposure to OSHA regulations or safety auditing practices
- Experience performing inspections, sample collection, or equipment checks
- Prior participation in incident investigations or root cause analysis
Schedule
Must be available to work 2:30pm - 11pm (2nd shift) and flex to 10:30pm - 7am (3rd shift) as needed.
