Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Monitor driver qualification files, medical certifications, licensing requirements, and compliance documentation.
  • Manage Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and electronic logging device (ELD) programs.
  • Review and analyze driver safety performance, CSA scores, telematics data, and accident trends.
  • Conduct driver safety training, onboarding, and refresher programs.
  • Investigate vehicle accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Coverage of vehicle inspections, maintenance compliance, and fleet safety initiatives.
  • Support drug and alcohol testing programs in accordance with DOT requirements.
  • Facilitate safety meetings with drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and MIOSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Lead incident investigations and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Support safety programs related to forklifts, powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, ergonomics, fall protection, and hazard communication.
  • Facilitate safety meetings with warehouse employees.
  • Maintain OSHA injury and illness records and required reporting documentation.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, fleet, warehouse, or industrial safety.
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Experience managing driver safety and fleet compliance programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MIOSHA regulations and workplace safety requirements.
  • Experience conducting accident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety/compliance management systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
