PowerGrid Services is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist with a focus on ET&D or Civil Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety program for direct hire craft and subcontractors
  • Conduct site observations and manage mitigations and corrective actions associated with observation findings
  • Develop project Emergency Action Plans and Job Hazard Analysis
  • Champion a strong safety culture through team commitment, continuous improvements, and mentoring
  • Develop, conduct, and document training pertaining to construction activities
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Conduct safety inspections, observations, investigations, and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DOT
  • Prepare reports for management team reviews on observations pertaining to work activities, investigations, employee injuries, property, and utility damage incidents
  • Enforce OSH (Occupational Safety & Health) policies (e.g., accident reporting process)
  • Coordinate drug screening (randoms (DOT & non-DOT), post-accident, reasonable suspicion)
  • Keep detailed records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
  • Complete any safety pre-qualifications required by potential clients
  • Communicate daily with craft senior personnel and superintendents on safety needs/requirements
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
  • Liaise with and report to PGS Safety Director on OSH matters
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in ET&D or Civil Safety
  • Proven experience as a safety specialist in the power construction industry
  • In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices
  • Experience in reporting and developing policies
  • OSHA 30 Training
  • CUSP certification, or ability to attain within 6 months of hire date
  • Experience in implementing OSH training programs
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills
  • Analytical mind with a diligent approach
  • BSc/BA in business administration, Safety, or relevant field
  • MVR qualifies individual to be an approved company driver
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen

Working Conditions

  • Office/Field environment
  • 50% travel may be required
