Duties/Responsibilities
- Conducts audits of multiple jobsites, writes, and communicates corrective actions and training to all personnel.
- Ensures compliance with DHG safety policies/procedures, OSHA, EPA, and local/state/federal safety standards.
- Identifies environmental hazards and recommends corrective/protective measures.
- Effectively identifies and advises on safety/environmental deficiencies.
- Develops and implements site-specific safety plans/procedures and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
- Conducts routine and follow-up environmental health, safety, and hazard inspections.
- Responds to emergency situations and prepares reports of findings and recommendations.
- Conducts incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends and makes recommendations.
- Communicates with DHG personnel to ensure implementation of safety protocols.
- Organizes and conducts training on various safety topics.
- Assists with mentoring/training Safety Specialists as needed.
Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and federal safety policies/laws and regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.).
- High-level understanding of heavy construction and demolition techniques/practices.
- Ability to develop and implement safety programs and protocols.
- Knowledge of safety inspection techniques and OSHA safety standards.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and procedures.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Skills in developing safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and make conclusions.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years of relevant experience).
- Professional safety designation (ASP, CSP, CHST, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to respond to emergencies 24/7.
- Ability to travel to jobsites for extended periods.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Completion of safety-related train-the-trainer courses.
- OSHA 500/510 certification optional.
