About the role

CPG Beyond has an excellent opportunity for a Safety Specialist II to join our growing team. The Safety Specialist II reports to the Safety Manager 1 and provides leadership, direction and education on CPG Construction Projects to reduce/eliminate risk, improve safety culture, and compliance.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Aids Safety Manager for site support and guidance to ensure field implementation of CPG Beyond and owner policies, procedures, and best practices are integrated into all aspects of projects.
  • Assists Safety Manager in safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Plans and implements training for employees in worksite safety practices.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures indicated and follows up to ensure corrective actions have been implemented.
  • Assists Safety Manager in performing and evaluating site risk assessments (JHA/AHA/PTPs).
  • Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
  • Conducts Incident Injury Management Program including escorting affected employees to occupational clinics and keeping up to date with case management.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Performs and conducts emergency evacuation procedures when necessary.
  • Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
  • Performs risk reduction or elimination communication functions for the site - toolbox talks, committees, stand downs, lessons learned.
  • Evaluates incoming contractor & contractor worker safety documentation for associated scopes of work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Construction Management, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience with construction safety management.
  • Working knowledge of U.S Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and standards and other non-regulatory safety standards applicable to the location.
  • Working knowledge of 29 CFR1926.
  • Knowledgeable with NFPA 70E and environmental compliance is a plus.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and can follow reporting processes.
  • Communicate effectively with client safety team regarding incidents and other action items.
  • Experience writing JHAs, SOPs, EOPs, MOPS, Hazcom, technical reports and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge with experience using Microsoft Office.
  • BCSP certifications preferred (CSP, CHST, SMS).

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; Standing and walking is required.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
