Safety Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Safety Specialist to apply scientific and practical safety knowledge to innovate, design, and improve safety systems, processes, equipment, and tools. This role offers opportunities for growth, skill development, and a collaborative work environment committed to safety excellence. Open office and manufacturing environments. Possible overtime, holiday, and weekend work. Ability to work varying/rotating shifts and perform production line tasks. Minimal travel with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Leading departmental and complex safety improvement projects
• Cycling PDCA to reduce injuries, hazards, and enhance safety performance
• Supporting safety culture development through collaboration with leaders and committees
• Interpreting and applying safety policies and procedures
• Performing risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and documenting safety activities
• Analyzing safety data, reporting results, and developing technical expertise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field; or equivalent experience
• 0-4 years of safety experience

Skills

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and data analysis skills
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and injury prevention strategies
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and problem-solving techniques
• Understanding of business planning and cost reporting is advantageous
