About the role
The Health & Safety Specialist serves as the primary contact for EHS efforts in one or more business areas (distribution, manufacturing, technical service, and/or facilities). You will work with EHS and site management teams to standardize safety practices across all sites in the Americas, supporting teams passionate about protecting employee safety and the environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with ResMed Safety Policies and Procedures, OSHA standards (e.g., Lockout Tagout, Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding), and site adherence to policies.
- Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and site inspections/audits.
- Lead safety gemba walks and address findings with site management.
- Develop, document, and facilitate safety programs, including job-specific training and new hire/visitor safety orientation.
- Manage incident reports, investigations, and near-miss reporting programs.
- Maintain safety records, SDS libraries, and data for EHS metrics tracking.
- Analyze injury and near-miss trends and report findings.
- Provide technical advising for Safety Team and First Responder Team activities.
- Support distribution wellbeing initiatives and assist the EHS Manager with programs for Distribution, Manufacturing, Technical Service, and office operations in the Americas.
- Travel 10-15% as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to multitask.
- Excellent professional communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to lead others and collaborate effectively.
- Strong knowledge of safety programs and General Industry OSHA Regulations.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- EHS experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-10 years of related EHS experience.
- EHS experience in both manufacturing and distribution environments.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods or remain in a stationary position.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Lift, move, or transport items up to 30 pounds.
- Navigate facilities, including ascending/descending stairs or ladders.
