Safety Specialist Overview
The Safety Specialist supports field operations, addresses customer-specific project needs, and ensures that Nickle's safety standards are consistently applied. They are responsible for driving safety culture improvements and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and codes.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engage in safety culture initiatives and drive continuous improvement in safety support services.
- Partner with Nickle's culture, vision, and ethical principles to fulfill all functions and responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, rules, and codes.
- Monitor and implement updates in safety regulations, laws, or reporting requirements.
- Organize and conduct OSHA training plans, including developing and implementing various safety trainings.
- Identify hazardous conditions and practices, and coordinate the implementation of controls and corrective measures.
- Evaluate the potential risks and severity of incidents or exposures to hazardous work environments or materials.
- Ensure hazardous materials are stored correctly and comply with regulations.
- Work closely with management to ensure compliance with safety, incident, and fire programs, procedures, and policies.
- Conduct frequent on-site inspections to assess physical conditions and safe work practices.
- Provide advice and coaching for compliance regulations and investigate incidents upon occurrence.
- Keep detailed records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, OSHA inspections, and other safety-related agency interactions.
- Build and maintain professional relationships within the construction industry through community involvement, memberships, and participation in committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in construction or manufacturing.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform on-site inspections and identify hazards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
Salary range: $50,000 - $70,000 annually.
