Safety Specialist

About the Role

This position is located in Toney, AL, and offers a first shift with the possibility of overtime. Initially, it is a temporary position with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental and safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular environmental and safety audits to assess compliance and identify potential hazards.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental policies, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage hazardous materials and waste programs, including storage, disposal, and documentation.
• Investigate workplace accidents or environmental incidents and implement corrective measures.
• Coordinate with management and cross-functional departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
• Stay current with environmental and safety legislation and advise the company on necessary actions.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit safety and environmental reports to relevant authorities.

Essential Skills

• 0-2 years of experience in environmental health and safety management.
• Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) laws and regulations.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and enforce safety standards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for employee training and coaching.
• Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
• Proficiency with EHS-related software and reporting tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
• OSHA Certifications such as OSHA 30.
• Construction Safety and Manufacturing Experience.

Work Environment

This role is based at 7800 Pulaski Pike, Toney, AL, on a first shift with the potential for overtime. The position is temporary with the possibility of becoming permanent. The work environment emphasizes a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, utilizing EHS-related software and tools.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $29.00/hr.
