Safety Service Patroller

Essential Duties

• Maintains road safety by monitoring incidents affecting traffic.
• Provides roadside assistance to stranded motorists, including tire changes, battery jumps, fuel provision, and debris removal.
• Coordinates with other first responders at highway incidents for incident response, on-scene traffic control, and basic first aid.
• Communicates with the Traffic Operations Center (TOC) regarding disabled vehicles, abandoned vehicles, debris, and lane-closing events.

Physical Demands

• Ascend/descend steps and stairs.
• Balance while performing stoop, bend, walk, stand, sit, crouch, kneel, squat, and reach.
• Drive a truck approximately 200 miles per day.
• See (including field of vision, distance close to eye).
• Move hands for holding, finger dexterity, and grasping.
• Hear.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Pull/push/reach using upper body force to drag, haul, move, and/or guide objects.
• Perform repetitive motions, work with machine operations, oscillating equipment, and small parts.
• Work in an outside environment (cold, hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, including rain and snow).
• Work around hazards (traffic).

Requirements

• High school diploma (equivalent).
• Able to perform the physical demands of the job as outlined above.
• Strong command of the English language and ability to communicate both in writing and verbally; bilingualism in Spanish is an asset.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work various shifts including morning, evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to work diligently in a noisy environment.
• Use of personal protective equipment.
