About the role

This role sits within Menzies Aviation’s global safety, security and compliance function and is responsible for guiding station-level health, safety and security policy, standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance across the Americas region. The role reports to the VP, Safety, Security and Training, Americas and works closely with operational leadership to embed a “safety first” culture, drive corporate safety and security programs, and maintain consistent standards at over 300 stations.

Responsibilities

  • With the VP, Safety, Security and Training, Americas, develop and implement the station Emergency Response Plan.
  • Implement Menzies Aviation policies and procedures as laid down in the Eight Pillars of Management.
  • Provide timely regional management reports weekly and monthly as required.
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of safety and security priorities within the station to achieve consistent standards.
  • Drive corporate safety and security programs and provide guidance and support to operational management on matters of safety and security.
  • Through hazard identification and risk control, develop policy and procedures to proactively promote a “safety first culture.”
  • Support the field operation to introduce safe and secure working procedures and conduct proactive daily inspections and audit programs.
  • Establish and support the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Liaise with the regulatory aviation authorities within the region to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and amend operational training requirements accordingly.
  • Oversee accident, incident reporting and investigation processes.
  • Facilitate the distribution of network safety and security alerts on a knowledge-sharing basis to increase awareness.
  • Report any significant deficiency in products, materials and documents.
  • Perform the duties of an auditor as described in the Quality Assurance Manual when required.
  • Ensure all external operational manuals remain current.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated considerable experience in the field of safety and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to both design and deliver SOPs.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Underpinning knowledge of the aviation industry.
  • Ability to manage projects and people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and liaise at a senior management level.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity within the workplace.
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including drug testing and a ten-year background check as required by US Customs.

Interpersonal Skills Required

  • Self-motivated, disciplined with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work in an international environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at different levels and from different cultural or ethnic backgrounds.
  • Prepared to attend accident sites.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.
  • PC literate.
