About the role

This role is responsible for providing guidance on health, safety, and security policies and SOPs, including relevant legislation for the country of operation.

Responsibilities

  • With the VP, Safety, Security and Training, Americas, develop and implement the station Emergency Response Plan
  • Implement Menzies Aviation Policies and Procedures as laid down in the Eight Pillars of Management
  • Provide timely regional management reports weekly and monthly as required
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of safety and security priorities within the station to achieve consistent standards
  • Drive corporate safety and security programs
  • Provide guidance and support to operational management on matters of safety and security
  • Through hazard identification and risk control, develop policy and procedures to proactively promote a “safety first culture”
  • Support the field operation to introduce safe and secure working procedures and proactive audit daily inspections and audit program
  • Establish and support Health and Safety Committee
  • Liaise with the regulatory aviation authorities within the region to ensure compliance
  • Monitor changes in legislation and amend operational training requirements accordingly
  • Accident, incident reporting and investigation
  • Facilitate the distribution of network safety and security alerts on a knowledge-sharing basis to increase awareness
  • Report any significant deficiency in products, materials, and documents
  • Perform duties as an auditor, as described in the Quality Assurance Manual, as required
  • Ensure all External Operational Manuals remain current
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Considerable experience in the field of safety and security
  • Ability to both design and deliver SOPs
  • Facilitation skills
  • Underpinning knowledge of the aviation industry
  • Ability to manage projects and people
  • Ability to work and liaise at a senior management level
  • Understanding of diversity within the workplace
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including drug testing and a ten-year background check as required by US Customs

Interpersonal Skills Required

  • Self-motivated and disciplined with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to work in an international environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at different levels and from different cultural/ethnic backgrounds
  • Prepared to attend accident sites
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • PC literate
