About the role

The City of Huntsville’s Public Safety division is seeking qualified applicants for Part-Time Safety Patrol Aide positions. These roles involve providing crossing guards for public and private schools to ensure the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic in school zones or during special events.

Responsibilities

• Helping ensure the safety of about 35,000 K-12th-grade school children each day at hazardous or congested school crossing locations.
• Expediting the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic in school zones or during special events.
• Assisting with special events as requested by the Special Operations Division.

Requirements

• High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pass a fingerprinting background check.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application.
• Reliable means of receiving work assignments, i.e., phone, text, email, etc.
• Reliable means of reporting to assigned work locations.
• Ability to assist the Special Operations Division with special events.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application.
• Must have reliable means of receiving work assignments, i.e., phone, text, email, etc.
• Must have reliable means of reporting to assigned work locations.
• If selected for hire, must successfully complete a supplemental application.
