Safety Partner - Emergency Department (ED) - (Part-Time)
About the role
Sentara Virginia Beach GH Emergency Department is hiring a Safety Partner to join their team. This is a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with 6 beds dedicated to a lock down psychiatric screening and treatment area. The ED is stroke certified and receives STEMI and psychiatric patients, treating about 150 patients per day with a dedicated radiology suite in the ED for plain film and CT imaging. The team includes diverse nursing and ED Tech staff.
Responsibilities
Assists with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
- Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in a health sciences program strongly preferred; background with mental health/behavioral health is a plus

Pay
The base pay range for full‑time employment is $17.82 – $25.65 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra‑shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
