About the Role
A Safety Partner promotes a safe environment for individuals who are unable to be left alone for long periods of time and require consistent monitoring. This may include individuals affected by age, frailty, physical and/or mental disability, or other conditions. The role is non-clinical; if the patient requires clinical or personal care (e.g., bathing, transfers), a CNA will be assigned for those duties.
Effective August 1, 2018, after adequate training on gait belt and body mechanics, the Safety Partner will assist patients to the restroom.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 1 year of patient care experience (Preferred)
License and Certifications
- AHA (American Heart Association) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 120 days (Required)
- CPT (Crisis Prevention Training) within 180 days (Required)
Responsibilities
- Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission, and vision of the organization.
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (e.g., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
- For non-clinical areas, attends training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
