About the role

The Electrical Safety Manager contributes to the overall success of CR Meyer’s Electrical Division and its heavy industrial customers by assisting the construction project management team in all matters pertaining to risk management, health, and safety. This role implements the CR Meyer Risk Management program for electrical construction projects, acts as a resource to management, administrative, and field staff, and ensures compliance through leadership and partnership.

The Electrical Safety Manager serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on electrical safety, providing guidance on protocols, policies, and procedures, and assists in developing, maintaining, and overseeing electrical-related training programs. The role involves pre-project electrical safety planning, understanding customer site-specific safety requirements, and ensuring CR Meyer and subcontractors meet or exceed those expectations.

This position has the authority to order work suspensions in situations of imminent danger or serious hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a resource to all CR Meyer staff on interpretation, administration, and compliance with the Risk Management program for electrical services.
  • Provide guidance on electrical safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee electrical-related training programs; deliver training as needed on-site.
  • Work with Project Managers and construction staff on pre-project electrical safety planning.
  • Understand customers’ site-specific safety requirements and ensure CR Meyer and subcontractors meet or exceed expectations.
  • Conduct routine site visits, audits, and follow-ups to ensure correction of unsafe conditions; issue warnings for persistent issues.
  • Provide on-site training and coaching on electrical safety techniques and guidelines.
  • Lead by example in promoting CR Meyer’s Mission-Vision-Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Organize and provide safety-related training for management, administrative, and field staff.
  • Prepare and maintain electrical-related accident documentation, including reports and notifications; conduct post-accident and near-miss investigations.
  • Participate in employee coaching sessions and assist field supervisors in documenting safety concerns.
  • Coordinate emergency response, including first aid, medical, fire protection, evacuation, and on-site security procedures.
  • Maintain safety supplies/PPE for job sites, order supplies, and assist employees with proper use.
  • Ensure all CR Meyer PPE meets the specific requirements of the electrical trades.
  • Complete all related reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Represent the CR Meyer brand professionally at all times.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of health and safety experience in the electrical contracting industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Certified to deliver NFPA 70E Qualified Person training.
  • OSHA 510/500 certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, insurable driving history, and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time to project sites within the United States.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required due to project deadlines and demands.
