About the role
This Safety Manager position is working Program-Wide with Los Angeles Community College District, at the BuildLACCD Program Management Office (PMO). This position will be assigned as a District-Wide position.
Responsibilities
- Perform management oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, report on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance on multiple projects sites
- Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects
- Monitor adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures
- Support to the Program Safety Manager, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings, or providing safety reports/analysis as requested
- Attend construction meeting with college project team and general contractor. Leading the safety topic (toolbox), report on site observations (Observation Report) and review upcoming construction schedule for hazard preparedness
- Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate daily safety report for all site visits
- Submit weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Report to College Project Manager
- Perform and document safety orientation with contractor safety representative
- Maintain zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Program's safety policy
- Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties throughout the greater Los Angeles area
- Work in fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years' of commercial construction experience in the US with a General Contractor
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in California with a Contractor or major subcontractor
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in construction of educational projects in a campus environment
- Strong experience managing field construction teams on multiple projects
- Experience on demolition, renovation, and new construction building projects
- Experience working on OCIP programs
- All certificates and credentials must be active and current for consideration. Include a current copy of all certifications in resume package for verification
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification - include copy in resume package for verification
- Experience on modernization/renovation projects involving abatement, remediation of hazardous materials, hazardous material waste removal and handling, such as asbestos and lead based paint
- Strong experience working senior management and field teams on large building programs across multiple sites and locations
- Experience participating in scheduled construction Meetings with Contractors and Project Managers
- Experience in safety incident reporting and daily construction reporting for multiple projects
- Able to effectively communicate with Owner's Construction Management staff and Contractor's Site Management Team
- Able to manage, control, and report safety incidents in a timely manner in accordance with OSHA regulations and Owner's Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and other basic software programs used in Construction
