Responsibilities
- Manage and enforce Wilhelm's Safety Program for the assigned project(s).
- Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage.
- Use and enforce job-specific safety standards, best management practices, and Wilhelm's safety program.
- Ensure the safety of all persons and property on the job site resulting in an accident/incident-free project.
- Conduct weekly "Toolbox Safety Meetings" and document content and attendance.
- Conduct Safety Orientations for new employees.
- Advise project staff on site-specific safety issues and guidelines.
- Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations.
- Provide leadership on the project and build working relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives.
- Collaborate with foremen on means/methods for performing Hazard Recognition and Analysis (HRA) work (excavations, fall protection, heavy equipment, etc.).
- Monitor Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and pipe testing procedures.
- Enforce safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all state, federal, local regulations (including OSHA), as well as Wilhelm company policies and owner/contractual requirements.
- Attend Owner Meetings.
- Record observations from site inspections and complete required reports.
- Investigate, corroborate, document, all accidents, incidents, and near misses on the jobsite.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions based on policies, guidelines, and laws.
- Complete site walks at least 3-4 times per day.
Requirements
- 7+ years' safety experience in construction or a similar industry.
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods and OSHA standards.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Able to successfully solve difficult contract and contract-related technical problems requiring excellent judgment.
- Comfortable at the table with all levels of leadership.

What It Takes
- 7+ years' safety experience in construction or a similar industry.
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods and OSHA standards.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Able to successfully solve difficult contract and contract-related technical problems requiring excellent judgment.
- MUST want to be in the field, not behind a desk.
- Basic working knowledge of MS Office and Windows.
