Job Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs at PACCAR Technical Center. The ideal candidate will have a combination of high-level technical experience and leadership experience with people and programs.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Manage a comprehensive safety program including prevention, inspection, investigation, and recording of incidents. Detect hazardous conditions, track and measure results and recommend, as well as implement appropriate actions.
- Provide leadership, training, and analysis to managers, and employees in the identification of potential hazards and accident prevention.
- Oversee the location's worker's compensation program, including investigations, reporting, and collection of information for claims management.
- Develop and implement preventive or corrective measures relating to processes.
- Working with the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) safety team, implement and maintain BEV Program safety requirements to include overall facility, storage and work-center safety.
- Implement BEV-specific safety training and technician certification.
- Participate in Risk Assessment and long-term safety projects, in collaboration with relevant managers and executives and Corporate Safety.
- Proactively streamline safety processes and automate as appropriate.
- Oversee the safety committee.
- Administer, create, and facilitate safety training.
- Develop, maintain and communicate the PTCs emergency programs such as emergency evacuations, ensuring proper training and certification.
- Maintain knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, applicable federal, state, and local laws. Coordinate with OSHA inspectors, fire department inspections, and PACCAR insurance carriers.
- Coordinate with local authorities to ensure compliance with state, local, or industry specific regulations. Assist in basic first aid treatment.
- Oversee the site DOT Alcohol and Drug program.
- Other duties as needed.
- Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- 8 years of related industrial safety experience
- Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA/general electrical systems as well as local regulatory agencies
- Ability to identify and employ effective safety solutions in PACCAR's business pursuits
- Demonstrated ability to develop, document, implement, and monitor business processes
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Ability to influence a safety behavioral-based culture
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of a manufacturing environment and equipment
- Organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of PACCAR employees including senior management
- Ability to manage quickly changing priorities while meeting deadlines
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or related field required.
- Master's Degree in applicable field preferred.
- Professional certification CSP or equivalent preferred
