Safety Manager
About the role
The Safety Manager at David E. Looper & Company (DELCO) plays a key leadership role in driving and reinforcing DELCO’s safety culture across all job sites. This position ensures compliance while proactively identifying risks, influencing behaviors, and partnering with field leadership to embed safety into daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of companywide safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and applicable projectspecific requirements
- Serve as a fieldfacing leader, partnering with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to drive safe work practices
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and risk assessments, identifying hazards and implementing proactive solutions
- Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning
- Track, maintain, and communicate safety metrics, reports, and documentation in a timely and effective manner
- Provide guidance and recommendations to leadership on safety risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and deliver safety training programs, reinforcing expectations and best practices
- Follow up on corrective actions to ensure consistent execution and accountability across job sites
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution and strengthening of DELCO’s safety culture and programs
Qualifications & Experience
- OSHA 30 Construction preferred
- Experience in construction safety, OSHA compliance, or related fields such as emergency services, law enforcement, or fire service
- Strong working knowledge of safety regulations and jobsite best practices
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and influence field teams
- Strong organizational, reporting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel overnight approximately 30-50% of the time and work outside normal hours as needed
Physical Demands
This role frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, communication, and climbing stairs or ladders. Occasional requirements include reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
