About the role
Motivated safety-focused student with a solid understanding of workplace hazards, compliance, and risk reduction. Quick to learn, detail-oriented, and eager to support inspections, data tracking, and safety initiatives while gaining hands-on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with workplace safety inspections and hazard identification
- Support the development and delivery of safety training materials
- Participate in audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies
- Observe operations to identify unsafe behaviors or conditions
- Aid in implementing corrective actions and safety improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with supervisors and employees to promote a strong safety culture
- Engage in emergency preparedness activities and drills
Non-Essential Duties
- Help create or update safety bulletin boards and communication materials
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, or preparing documents
- Participate in team projects related to ergonomics, wellness, or sustainability
- Shadow different departments to learn about operations and safety practices
- Contribute ideas for improving safety culture or engagement
- Provide general support for the safety team as needed
Physical Requirements
- Capability to climb stairs, ladders, or access elevated areas during inspections
- Ability to bend, kneel, or reach when examining equipment or work areas
- Comfortable lifting or carrying up to 25–30 pounds of materials or safety equipment
- Adequate vision and hearing to observe hazards, alarms, and workplace conditions
- Capability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, or hearing protection
- Ability to travel between work areas or facilities as needed
- Standing, walking, or moving around job sites for extended periods
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Languages Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
