About the role
Inspects work areas and/or work practices to ensure compliance with safety rules and objectives. Prepares and maintains reports related to safety. Works under the general supervision of a Safety or Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Instructs employees and supervisors on proper safety practices and techniques.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Monitors and ensures continued adherence of safety rules and procedures.
- May investigate employee complaints concerning unsafe working conditions.
- Responds to workplace safety or security emergencies and issues.
- Inspects specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.
Requirements
- Knowledge of state and Federal regulations relative to safety, health, environment, and workers compensation.
- Good knowledge of plant operations or the ability to acquire it in a timely manner.
- Ability to maintain accurate, current records and generate complete and timely reports.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees.
Qualifications
- Completion of standard education supplemented by training in first-aid.
- Some plant inspector or safety administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
