Safety Inspection Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspections and testing of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, smoke detectors, and other life safety systems.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspections, repairs, and compliance reports.
  • Clock in with vendors and contractors for system repairs and upgrades as needed.
  • Respond promptly to system malfunctions, alarms, or emergencies, and provide corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety codes, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Support emergency drills, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Educate staff on the proper use of life safety equipment and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of safety improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must obtain within 1 year of employment one of the following certifications: NICET level 1 or NICET level II (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies), CLSS-HC (Certified Life Safety Specialist – Health Care), CCPIA (Certified Commercial Property Inspectors Association), or NFPA-CFI (Certified Fire Inspector I – CFI-1).
  • Education: High School Diploma.
  • Experience: 1 year of facilities maintenance experience, Life Safety experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License (Record in Good Standing): State of Virginia or State of North Carolina required.
